Free Event

Here is an opportunity for festival patrons and the community to get a free taste of what the Margaret River wine region has to offer. The sidewalks in town will come alive with carnival rides, musicians, street performers and market stalls. Get amongst the action in heart of Margaret River to witness the sidewalks morph into a lively all-ages celebration – starting on the lawns at Reuther Park and extending right down the hill to the Margaret River Visitors Centre for a premium wine tasting.

Take pleasure in a free wine tasting in one of the sixteen local businesses who are partnering with a winery for the evening. Lloyds of Margaret River opens their doors to The Berry Farm who will conduct both a food and wine tasting, the Tunbridge Gallery showcases Thompson Estate wines, Must Bar will launch their ‘Must Do A-Z of Margaret River’ that runs all weekend, Settlers Liquor partners with Flametree Wines, while the Margaret River Book Shop combines a tasting from Cape Grace and Preveli Wines with their excellent wine literature.

Visit the Settlers Tavern for the world’s greatest oyster bar. Rob Gough and his team of mad shuckers will be serving up dozens of ocean fresh oysters, perfect with a glass of Margaret River’s finest from their award winning wine list. Open 4.30pm until sold out. Once the sidewalk celebrations wind-up, you can kick up your heels to hip-hop legends The Herd at the Settlers Tavern- tickets available through Oztix (book early!). Or guests can indulge in a wine and food matched evening at one of the many eclectic cafes and restaurants in town.

Several more businesses will host a tasting and share their wares. A full map and list of the businesses hosting a winery for the evening will be made available on the day.

The 39 Steps at Voyager Estate

Monday 16 April 2012
6.45 pm for a 7 pm start
Voyager Estate
Tickets: $90 per person for a three course set menu dinner and show

Presented by The South West Academy of Performing Arts and Bare Naked Theatre by special arrangement with Dominie Pty Ltd.

Featuring 4 Actors, 130 characters and 100 hilarious minutes this show has been called “A joyous version of the Hitchcock classic”.

This crazy, romping stage adaptation gets to the heart of John Buchan's thriller and finds rip-roaring comedy.

Playwright Patrick Barlow describes it as “…a gripping thriller that moves at breakneck speed, but is also zany in a Pythonesque way. There’s a dastardly villain, gunshots galore, but at the same time it’s a romantic love story with a handsome hero and no less than three beautiful heroines. It’s a rom-com thriller. It has it all.”

Tickets are limited, and available by calling Voyager Estate on +61 8 9757 6354 or by emailing restaurant@voyagerestate.com.au.
